A two-day author’s course by Olha Onishchuk, created specifically for professionals interested in the issue of compensation for war damage to destroyed property and working with affected property owners, as well as lawyers seeking to deepen their knowledge of compensation issues for high-quality legal support of client cases — both individuals and legal entities.

Course participants will receive

  • Clear step-by-step algorithms for working with victims — from the stage of confirming ownership of destroyed property to the final step — using the compensation received.
The course is based on real cases and the lecturer’s own experience working with victims, so all materials are practical and adapted to the realities of compensation mechanisms. Special attention will be paid to the most common mistakes made in the process of obtaining compensation, as well as complex cases, in particular regarding the realisation of the right to compensation by heirs and non-title owners of destroyed housing.
  • A separate section will be devoted to working with the international Register of Damages for Ukraine (RD4U). Participants will learn about the important role of RD4U in developing a future international compensation mechanism for Ukraine, familiarise themselves with the nuances of appeals by various entities — citizens, businesses and the state — and learn professional life hacks for the high-quality preparation of applications for property categories, such as the collection of necessary evidence, materials and documents.

1. Compensation for war damage: international experience and Ukrainian reality
2. National compensation mechanism: key stages and legal nuances
3. Damaged and destroyed housing: features of legal regulation
4. Housing certificate: subtleties of implementation and support of purchase and sale agreements
