Scholarship named after Leonid Hryshchenko

The scholarship was established to support and develop young people who have already gone through the trials of war and have combat experience.

Our mission is to help these young heroes and heroines acquire new knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as improve their professional level. To introduce an ecosystem of like-minded people to implement projects for the development of Ukraine and positive changes in various fields and areas, including military management and military-technical development.

During the year, up to 40 people, including military personnel and veterans, aged 22 to 40, can become scholarship holders.

Hryschenko

Leonid was born in Kyiv. After graduating from high school, he entered the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, majoring in Psychology. In the summer of 2020, he was drafted into the army and later signed a contract after 4 months of military service.

In 2023, he served in the 169th Yaroslav the Wise Training Center “Desna”, where he reached the rank of sergeant. During the full-scale invasion, he took part in the battles near Chernihiv, Chornobyl, Mariupol, and in eastern Ukraine. He participated in the operation to liberate the Kherson region. He was transferred to the 72nd Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians, where he participated in the battles near Vuhledar.

He died on 26.05.2023 during an assault on enemy positions near the village Volodymyrivka, Volnovakha district, near Vuhledar. He was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage, III Class”.

At the time of his death, Leonid was 22 years old…

THE SCHOLARSHIP COVERS ALL ACTIVE TRAINING COURSES, EXCEPT FOR THE SCHOOL OF MINISTERS PROGRAMME AND GOVERNANCE ENGINEERING.

Alumni of the U.S Military Academy at West Point, Georgetown University and the U.S. Air Force Air University. He has diplomas from the French Military Colleges, has received numerous U.S. military awards and been recognized by the German, Italian, and Ukrainian governments.
E.J. served six and a half years as NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment responsible for policy and programmatic oversight of NATO’s major systems and the relationship with the defense industry.
He also was IBM Business Development Executive at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium and at US European Command and US Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany.

Yuriy Hudymenko

Ukrainian veteran, public figure, retired Junior Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
After the start of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving as the commander of a sapper unit in the 130th Battalion of the Territorial Defence Forces of the AFU.
On June 27th 2022, Yuriy was severely wounded during an artillery bombardment near Kharkiv.
He was awarded the Order “For Courage, III Class”, as well as Golden and Steel Crosses Orders.
