SUMMER SCHOOL OF DEMOCRACY UNDER THE AUSPICES OF LARRY DIAMOND

Larry Diamond is a professor of political science and sociology at Stanford University, where he teaches courses on democracy, democratic development, and American foreign policy.

Diamond has served as an advisor to many government and international organizations at various points in his life, including the US State Department, the United Nations, the World Bank, and the US Agency for International Development. He is one of the founders and co-editors of the Journal of Democracy, published by the National Endowment for Democracy. He is also the co-coordinator of the Iran Democracy Project at the Hoover Institution with Abbas Milani and Michael McFaul.

Diamond’s research focuses on democratic trends and conditions around the world, as well as policies and reforms to protect and advance democracy. His latest book, Ill Winds: Saving Democracy from Russian Rage, Chinese Ambition, and American Complacency (2019), examines the challenges facing liberal democracy in the United States and around the world at a turning point in history and proposes an agenda to strengthen and protect democracy at home and abroad.
