The lecture-discussion will focus on two elements. First, participants will familiarise themselves with the traditional system of foreign policy decision-making, including key institutions and actors, their powers, and decision-making algorithms. The second part will focus on the Donald Trump administration, which has made significant adjustments to the mechanisms of foreign policy formulation and implementation. This part will also discuss the impact of domestic political, economic and other factors that determine the Trump administration’s policy.

The lecture-discussion not only explains the traditional system of foreign policy decision-making in the United States, but also demonstrates how the Donald Trump administration has changed the established approaches. The audience will see the contrast between institutional stability and the chaotic decision-making style that has become Trump’s hallmark.
