OFFLINE

A lecture-discussion in which we will explore the emergence of the image of Ukraine as a colony of Russia. We will learn what decommunists, decolonizers, and Leninists have in common. We will try to figure out how the postcolonial approach to the history of Ukraine “binds” us to Russia. We will look at examples of religious, imperial, national, and supranational projects on Ukrainian territory. We will discuss why it is important to study the elites of the past. We will also reflect on the changing paradigm of understanding history in Ukraine.

UNDER THE MENTORSHIP OF THE LECTURER, PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO TRACE HOW VIEWS ON THE HISTORY OF UKRAINE ARE FORMED. LEARN TO VIEW THE PAST OF UKRAINIAN LANDS AS A “LABORATORY” FOR PROJECTS OF VARIOUS ELITES.
