Professor Yilmaz Arguden is a Turkish strategist, management expert and author. He is the founder and chairman of ARGE Consulting, an Istanbul-based management consulting firm. He is also the head of the Turkish office of Rothschild & Co. Arguden worked as the chairman of the Committee on Business Management in the OECD, the chairman of the local networks of the UN Global Compact and the vice-chairman of the Turkish Basketball Federation.
Argüden started his career at Koç Holding in 1977. From 1980 to 1985, he worked as a policy analyst at the RAND Corporation. He worked at the World Bank as a senior fellow between 1985 and 1988 before returning to Ankara at the invitation of the Turkish government. In 1991, he held the position of chief economic adviser to Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz. In the same year, he founded ARGE Consulting. He served as an independent director on more than 70 boards of directors in various countries and was chairman of Erdemir (1997-99).
In 2005, Arguden was initially selected as a senior advisor to investment bank Rothschild & Co. In 2006, he became Rothschild’s representative in the country, and in 2007 he was appointed head of the Turkish office of Rothschild & Co. Arguden served as Chairman of the OECD Business Governance Committee and as a member of the IFC Corporate Governance Advisory Board. He is also the chairman of the trustees of the Argüden Management Academy and the author of numerous books, articles and columns on business, strategy and management issues.
